POLÍTICA I COOPERACIÓ INTERNACIONAL

Avui se celebren les eleccions legislatives als sis comtats del nord que es troben sota legislació britànica. Les eleccions arriben en un moment turbulent contextualitzat per la victòria del Brexit i després de la dimissió del Primer Ministre Martin McGuinness com a protesta davant l'escàndol dels incentius per l'energia renovable. Una vegada més, les Joventuts d'Esquerra Republicana volem expressar la nostra profunda solidaritat i suport cap als nostres germans i germanes republicans d’Irlanda en aquest moment crucial pel seu futur.

Els esdeveniments polítics recents han demostrat una vegada més la misèria i la falta de respecte del govern britànic i els seus lacais cap als ciutadans irlandesos dels sis comtats del nord i cap a les seves institucions polítiques. Aquesta falta de respecte, manifestada amb el referèndum del Brexit, el detonant de l’article 50 (que inclou els sis comtats tot i haver votat quedar-se), i la involucració de la diputada Arlene Foster del partit conservador DUP en l’escàndal de corrupció; demostra més clar que mai la necessitat d’una Irlanda unificada.

Per això recomanem votar el Sinn Féin a les eleccions d’avui, com a prova del suport i compromís d’aquells que s’han sacrificat i han dedicat la seva vida a la conciliació i la millora de la situació política i social a les seves comunitats, al nord d’Irlanda i a tota l’illa, i en contra d’aquells que mai han respectat els drets i la voluntat política de la ciutadania irlandesa.

JERC supports Sinn Féinn and Sinn Féin Republican Youth at Stormont elections

Today the legislative elections at the six northern counties under the British rule are celebrated. These elections arrive in a turbulent moment contextualised by the victory of Brexit and after the resignation of deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness in protest over the Renewable Heat Incentive scandal. Once again, the Left Republican Youth of Catalonia (JERC) wants to express its more profound solidarity and support to its republican brothers and sisters in Ireland in this crucial moment for its future.

Recent political developments show once again the misery and the lack of respect of the British government and its lackeys towards the Irish citizens of the six northern counties and its political institutions. This lack of respect, manifested by the Brexit referendum, the trigger of article 50 (which includes the six counties despite having voted “Remain”), and the involvement of DUP MLA Arlene Foster in the RHI Scandal; shows more clearly than ever the need for Irish unity.  

That’s why we totally recommend to vote for Sinn Féin in today’s election, as a proof of support and commitment to all those who have sacrificed and dedicated its life to conciliation and improvement of the political and social situation in their communities, in the north of Ireland or the whole island, and against those who have never respected the rights and political will of irish citizenship.
